Is it safe to buy gachapon online? What I would check before paying

With the gacha craze, online shops have popped up like mushrooms. Many are great. Others, not so much. And since we are one of those shops, writing this guide means grading our own homework: here are the six points you can use to examine us and anyone else.

1. Realistic delivery times

The vast majority of the world's collectible stock ships from Asia. That means an honest delivery window for most small shops is one to two weeks, not 24 hours. If a capsule shop promises "delivery tomorrow" across its whole catalogue, either it holds its own local stock (those shops exist, and they rightly brag about it) or you are being told a story that ends in a dispute. A clear delivery time shown before payment is the number one sign of a serious shop.

2. Returns in writing

In the European Union you have a 14-day withdrawal right by law. The policy must be published, linked in the site footer and free of creative small print. If you cannot find it in two clicks, walk away.

3. A name and an address behind the shop

A legal notice with a real owner, a real address and an email that actually answers. A shop with nobody behind it is a shop you cannot claim against. It is a thirty-second check that saves a lot of grief.

4. Reviews with photos

Reviews with perfect wording, all five stars and suspiciously similar phrasing smell funny. Real ones have phone photos, the odd complaint about delivery times and human sentences. Ten imperfect reviews beat fifty clones.

5. Payment with a safety net

Card through a known gateway, PayPal or similar: systems where you can dispute a charge if things go wrong. Direct bank transfer to a stranger, never. This applies to any online purchase, but in collector niches full of sold-out items the temptation bites harder.

6. Coherent prices

Neither the impossible bargain (usually a fake or a ghost shop) nor a rip-off riding the hype of the moment. Compare a couple of shops and stick with the one that gives it to you straight, even if its price is not the lowest.
